 Capitol Day for Tourism  –  Wednesday, February 19, 2020

Capitol Day for Tourism 2020 is set for Wednesday, February 19, 2020. The focus of this year’s event will be on extending the sunset for the tourism funding formula.

Orientation will take place at 9:00 a.m. in Room 139 in the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office which is located at 600 West Main Street in Jefferson City. We will have coffee and pastries available.

From 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Capitol visits will take place. Lunch will be on your own. We are encouraging everyone to bring their pop-up displays as we will have the opportunity to place displays all around the 3rd Floor Rotunda. We want to maximize our exposure so that everyone that passes through the rotunda is wowed by all that there is to see, do and experience all across Missouri.

At 3:00 p.m. we will reconvene for a brief debriefing session back in Room 139 in the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office at 600 West Main Street.

Those that register will be assigned to teams of 2-3 people who will be provided with informative fliers that highlight tourism’s impact and importance. The fact is that Missouri’s travel industry creates jobs, tax revenue and economic development. Tourism is vital to Missouri’s overall economy. Thus, continued support of Missouri’s tourism industry is critically important to continue driving revenue that strengthens the state’s overall economic health. Simply stated… tourism matters!

We have a room block for Capitol Day for Tourism at Capitol Plaza Hotel and Convention Center. The rate is $94.00 plus applicable taxes and fees. The room rate is good for both Tuesday, February 18th and also for Wednesday, February 19th, in case there are some that want to stay over an additional night. Missouri Travel Alliance’s Biennial Awards Dinner

From 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, Missouri Travel Alliance’s Biennial Awards Dinner will take place at Revel Catering & Events, 102 East High Street in Jefferson City.

As a member of Missouri Travel Alliance, you are cordially invited and we hope that you’ll join us for this very special evening.  The cost for the event is only $35 per person. Please note that registration is required.

A number of awards will be presented at the event including the Friend of MTA Award, the Gil Elmore Service Award, the Rookie Award, the Division of Tourism Award, the President’s Award, and the Legislative Service Award.

We’ll enjoy a wonderful buffet dinner that includes a salad of organic arugula with pears, oven dried chevre, candied Missouri pecans, and red wine vinaigrette. Braised beef sirloin with red wine-wild mushroom gravy. Slow roasted organic chicken with a smoky Spanish tomato sauce. Creamy roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Stir fried cauliflower “Gobi Masala” with tomatoes & ginger. Miso roasted winter vegetables. Individual chocolate cake with caramel sauce & fresh berries.
