Who We Are
Missouri Travel Council is the official private sector umbrella organization of the tourism industry in the state of Missouri. Missouri Travel Council, a 501(c)6 non-profit association, works to facilitate partnership and cooperation among all sectors of the Missouri travel industry, both public and private to strengthen the development, promotion and sustainable growth of the Missouri tourism industry for both visitors and state residents alike. Membership in the Missouri Travel Council is open to anyone and everyone with an interest in promoting tourism of our great state.
The “Tourism Team” is comprised of all entities involved in tourism – from the smaller family-owned operations to the large corporate entities – hotels, CVB’s, attractions, receptive operators, campgrounds, city and state governments and many more.
Missouri Travel Council helps organizations like yours keep abreast of activities affecting the industry and collaborate with all areas of the hospitality industry to put YOU on the Missouri visitor’s designation list!
Anyone who is promoting tourism is a candidate to join MTC and enjoy the benefits and services membership affords!
As a member of the Missouri Travel Council, you become a visible part of the Missouri Tourism Team.
We’re a voice for the entire tourism industry – and that voice is heard by the legislature to promote tourism funding.
Our member’s voices were heard in support of efforts like HB 188 in 1991 which significantly increased monies available for state advertising and provides funding for the valuable Cooperative Marketing Program. That same voice was heard in the defeat of the effort to increase the state’s minimum wage and other state initiatives that would wreak havoc on the tourism industry.
As a member of Missouri Travel Council, you’ll have ample opportunities for quality networking.
To begin with, every new member is provided a Mentor from a similar type business. The Mentor’s main purpose is to guide you through your first year of membership by providing reminders of regional meetings, statewide events and updates on general tourism information.
In addition, the MTC board maintains close relationships and supports the efforts of other organization in the tourism industry. This gives you access to information from the Missouri Tourism Commission, Missouri Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus, Missouri Hotel & Lodging Association, and regional tourism organizations throughout the state.
At MTC, the educational opportunities provide a forum to help you obtain the latest information on all aspects of tourism:
- Joint Meeting Planner’s Tradeshow with SGMP & MSAE
- Committees are working to develop other marketing opportunities for our membership. Feedback on your marketing needs is always welcome.
- Bank Travel Exchange – a conference that includes appointment-based marketplaces with bank travel planners.
Missouri business members can take advantage of our marketing programs that provide exposure for your products and services:

- Tourism Educational Workshops
- Distribution site for tourism research information
