Job Description This Sales Manager position will be responsible for the revenue generation activities and results for the Association and Corporate Markets for the hotel. Conduct and/or participate in the required company standard meetings, including but not limited to daily stand up meeting, daily business review, weekly Sales Meeting, and weekly one-on-one with the Director of Sales.      Develop and implement SMART Plans for all direct sales market segments.  Track and communicate progress.   Request assistance as needed.   Conduct outside sales calls to cultivate existing customers and accounts and develop new business   Ensure systems are established and in place to respond to customer needs within a defined response period.  These may include, but are not limited to: telephone inquiries, bids, proposals, confirmation of bookings, thank you letters, follow up letters, etc.   Develop and maintain a file and trace system to ensure all sales call activity is defined, recorded, traced, and updated in an organized manner.   Ensure the understanding and implementation of Brand sales initiatives, tools and resources.   Aggressively pursue all appropriate opportunities within designated market segments for outside customer solicitation and relationship building including: Outside Sales Calls, Civic Association Events, Trade Events, Industry Vendor Relationships, etc.   Conduct hotel tours and entertain qualified potential clients in accordance with the company and property policies.     Contribute to the research and development of the annual strategic marketing plan, budget, and monthly forecasts.      Local community involvement as it benefits the hotel, via approved memberships in organizations.   Submit required weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the General Manager and Corporate staff.  Analyze data for trends, corrective action, rate maximization, etc.   Actively participate in Month End Revenue Review Calls and Property Visits with Corporate staff.     Be able to understand and interpret market conditions, trends, and the competition by analyzing STAR data and sales month-end reports.   Contribute and work as a "team" member in all facets of the position.   Perform other services and duties as requested by the General Manager. May be called upon to host functions and participate in, or conduct sales blitzes, travel and work extended hours to achieve departmental goals.   Present a clean, pleasant and professional image to project a positive, polished appearance to staff, potential guests and clients.

Job Description Current opening is in the City of Independence Tourism Department. The position is for a Sales Manager. Under limited supervision, seek, identify and develop new and existing business for conventions, associations, religious planners and other group/meeting travel planners and manage related services. Perform the sales and marketing required to solicit and book events for the City, resulting in increased hotel occupancy and media exposure. Knowledge of principles and practices of the tourism industry, sales and marketing and customer service; administrative principles and practices including planning, organizing, supervising, directing, coordinating, budgeting, goal setting, program management, report writing, records management, data collection and input, statistical analysis, and grant writing and management. Job Description POSITION DESCRIPTION City of Warrensburg JOB TITLE: Director of Tourism NAME: DEPARTMENT: Tourism DATE: May 2017 JOB STATUS: Non-exempt IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Warrensburg Convention and Visitors Bureau (WCVB) Board; City Manager JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY: The position is responsible for attracting, selling, overseeing the development, implementation and coordination of City tourism (sports, conventions and conferences) related activities including marketing, advertising, financial reporting and coordinating and overseeing the budget. This position will conduct market research, utilize a competitive marketing strategy that fosters a good public image and promotes City wide tourism assets, programs, events, cultural, historic, and agricultural tourism resources. This position is the public relations representative acting on behalf of the Warrensburg Convention and Visitors Bureau (WCVB) and must maintain a thorough knowledge of the community and have a good working relationship with the staff, volunteers and partner organizations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS I. Tourism, Marketing & Sales Related Activities 40% of Time A. Develop and integrate a formal sales plan maintaining WCVB’s goals and mission. B. Develop and implement a comprehensive Tourism marketing plan for Warrensburg and identify new methods, features and events to promote and increase tourism, for the purpose of generating positive economic growth for the city. C. Coordinate and support marketing efforts with community organizations assuring for professionalism. D. Oversee website development and the use of various media outlets for tourism promotion. E. Ability to design, develop, print and distribute promotional materials, and place ads for magazines, day trip sections, vacation guides and billboards. F. Develop and utilize audiovisual and related computer programs for presentations and marketing promotions. G. Attend marketing seminars, conferences, and continuing education sessions that assist in development and implementation of current and industry standard marketing programs. H. Coordinate booth displays for tourism-related trade shows and events. II. Budget, Purchasing, & Resource Related Activities 15% of Time A. Coordinate and assist the WCVB Board to develop priorities and objectives necessary to prepare and manage the annual Tourism budget of both expenses and projected revenue. B. Manages and tracks tourism expenditures assuring for accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. C. Actively pursue, develop and coordinate grant writing and administration of state and national tourism funding, sponsorships, and cooperative marketing and research partnerships, specifically intended to create a positive economic impact on local tourism. D. Establish and implement operating policies and procedures assuring for compliance and other efficiencies. E. Administer memberships, including sales. F. Meet and maintain the requirements of the Contract for Services Agreement. III. Public Relation and Liaison Activities 35% of Time A. Take an active role in collaborating and working with other community agencies and entities in pursuit of tourism. B. Establish and maintain positive working relationships between the county, city, community leaders, tourism related businesses and stakeholders, media outlets, and local, state and federal agencies. C. Act as a support system and coordinate the connection of tasks by aiding in the hosting of events with community organizations. D. Oversee and make public relations presentations, respond to citizen’s questions or inquiries, and speaks to citizen’s groups by presenting a good public image. E. Serve as the administrator to the Board and attend monthly meetings, work study sessions, committee meetings and represents the department at City meetings assuring for professionalism. F. Coordinate with the City to create or modify policies pertaining to the department assuring for professionalism and accuracy. G. Prepare and send press releases to the appropriate media outlets. H. Prepare and submit a calendar of events listings for local dissemination, state-wide and regional media (magazines, websites and newspapers). I. Work with hotels, area attractions and businesses to foster a welcoming environment to attract both leisure and business travelers. IV. Supervisory and Management Activities 10% of Time A. Administer office operations, including recruiting, developing, training, coordinating, and supervising WCVB volunteers. B. Plans long-range goals, objectives, organizational structure, and overall direction for the department. C. Monitors, reviews, and communicates the implementation phases of the department’s strategic plans to ensure that long range goals and objectives are met. D. Prepare reports and department summaries regarding visitation, budget, events, publications, advertising, and marketing plans. Presents reports and participates during WCVB Board and City Council meetings. V. City Wide Practices 100% of Time A. Performs effectively as a team member carrying out the City of Warrensburg and the WCVB’s stated vision, mission and values assuring for professionalism. B. The successful candidate must possess the following: (1) Working knowledge and experience in the tourism industry, public relations, advertising and marketing. (2) Outstanding customer service skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, good organizational skills, common-sense, and a willingness to work independently across a variety of tasks. (3) The ability to address conflict, research alternatives and recommend solutions in a collaborative and problem solving approach. (4) Project management experience taking a project from conception to completion including contract administration, supervising consultants and volunteers.
