2 2019-09-28 20:40:00 Job Title Director of Development and Communications - Ragtag Film Society
Job Description The Ragtag Film Society is looking for an experienced professional to lead the organization’s fundraising and communication efforts. The Director will oversee and support the team members who make up the Development and Communications teams for both RFS projects – Ragtag Cinema and True/False Film Fest. Their primary objective is to develop and implement an overall strategy for these two teams, and support staff of both teams across both projects in their execution of annual mission-driven priorities. Duties Include: Working with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, develop and implement an annual development plan in order to secure annual and multi-year donations and grants from individuals, government agencies, and foundations. (Note: this role is not responsible for securing corporate sponsorship.) Design a donor program for the organization, building upon our existing pass and membership programs Identify and cultivate new sources of private, public, and foundation funding Organize donor-targeted special events; collaborate with Sponsorship, Outreach, and other teams as necessary to develop and plan marketing events Provide top-notch customer service to all donors during the week of the festival and throughout the year Oversee creation of fundraising materials, including annual report, appeal letters, education brochures, and RFS membership information Develop an overall external communication strategy for RFS, including marketing, advertising, and public relations Increase overall awareness of the organization locally, regionally, and nationally Develop Fest Press strategy; manage relationships with current media partners, strategize and develop new media partners Lead in attracting and nurturing key members of national, regional, & local press, and fielding press requests; develop press release strategy and write press releases Write & send high-level stakeholder e-blasts, including bimonthly Super/Silver Circle newsletters, Guffman/Megaguffman newsletters, etc. Edit all external communications, including press releases, fest publications, and monthly calendars Work with Marketing Leads to develop consistent RFS branding Create RFS talking points and/or presentation materials for management team and board members Establish annual benchmarks and drive growth in quantity and quality of impressions, including social media strategy and other channels

Educational Requirements The ideal candidate will have: Minimum 2 years of fundraising experience, including grant writing, cultivating private donors, and securing foundation funding A working knowledge of the grant-making landscape Minimum 2 years of event planning and/or program implementation Previous experience with the True/False Film Fest and/or Ragtag Cinema
Salary In the range of $48-53k
